// it’s tuesday already??

this weekend  seemed like a blur. friday began with checking equipment, notes, last minute details, and running errands before heading out to rehearsals. biker fox (the lead actor) and his two assistants were arriving at noon and we were set to go over scenes at 2 pm. that morning, i just imagined i would get a call from him saying he missed the flight or he’s in jail (yes jail, this man has been charged with three felonies! no joke) or worst case – not hearing from him at all. but… none of that happened and my fears were put to rest when he called. hallelujah! this thing might go according to plan after all.

rehearsals went smoothly – it was finally great to hear the lines spoken. i saw some areas where i’m going to have to work out but nothing major. it all pretty much had to do with pacing and timing. hillary our supporting actress, was a great addition after our initial cast member had to drop out. i felt pretty good about them delivering and making their characters come alive.

saturday was our first shoot day. the location was a bar in downtown fort worth. we were giving six hours to get everything done. since i was also dp – right when i walked through those doors i immediately had to set the lighting. i was pretty confident we could get our shots done within the time frame – but that confidence eroded when i checked my watched and saw 4:45. our saving grace was that, luckily we weren’t shooting dialogue today. so that helped. in the end – we were able to get the shots and pack up before 6.

we finished the day shooting exterior shots with balloon boy around town. the light was perfect outside and ian (balloon boy) was fantastic. after the final scene shot… we headed to a bar for a much needed cold one.

sunday would be a different story….
