one month later

It’s been a month since Michelle and I were given our keys to our apartment here in Los Angeles, a quaint two 2 bedroom tucked away in Los Feliz. It’s a quiet and pleasant neighborhood – but it’s even better knowing there’s craziness just a few blocks away on Vermont or Hillhurst. Moving’s never easy. Boxes are always reminders of things to get done. Our TV sits against the wall with only the dvd player connected. It’s been a month and we still don’t have cable. It’s kind of nice that way. Not easily tempted to forget your responsibilities by clicking the remote and flipping channels. The funny thing is that habit is now transferred to my web surfing. I’m finding out that I’m visiting the same sites over and over again… and nothing’s changing. The same ol’ news. But that’s ok, there’s a whole new city to explore.

The other night, about a mile from us, we discovered a Blockbuster. Shocked that they were still open (thought they went bankrupted?) but just for the fun of decided to go in. We walked out with 5 new titles and pockets full of gummy bears and raisinets – and high fiving about our loot. However, I was probably more pumped about one film than any others, and that’s David Michod’s ANIMAL KINGDOM. I’ve been a fan since watching his short film CROSSBOW (watch it here!). Simply amazing work. And ANIMAL KINGDOM is no different.
