that you bought your dream home. You finally escaped the beatings of city life and found land in the quiet country side. Your dreams of raising a family away from the madness is actually going to materialize… because you worked hard for it. Now, imagine one day looking out and seeing your horses starting to act up. The ground rumbles and out of nowhere a convoy of trucks with drilling equipment park right in your yard and set up shop. You run out to see what’s going on and but were told that the land you bought doesn’t belong to you anymore – well atleast the gas or oil that’s below the ground doesn’t belong to you cause it says so on your lease. You’re only a surface owner. So they have every right to drill for gas as they please and you can’t do anything about it but live with the constant noise and pollution the trucks and workers create each day. This is what happened to Tim and Christine, a dream turned into a nightmare. This story was shot for Texas Monthly:
